Neil graduated from University College Dublin in 1995 with an honours degree in Commerce and obtained a Masters of Accounting from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in 1996. Neil subsequently joined PwC, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1998.

In 1999, Neil joined the Corporate Finance Division of HSBC Investment Bank in London where he specialised in advising on telecommunications clients including Telenor, NTT DoCoMo and Hutchison 3G. In 2000, Neil joined a number of colleagues from HSBC in moving to establish the European investment banking team at Bank of America.

While at Bank of America, Neil broadened his experience to work on public and private transactions in a variety of industries, including the acquisition by The Stanley Works of Facom Tools for €410m, the $6.6bn LBO of Toys ‘R’ Us by a consortium including Bain Capital and KKR, and the acquisition by JELD-WEN inc of Danish door manufacturer Vest-Wood A/S.

Neil returned to Dublin in 2006 and joined Goodbody Corporate Finance, where he continued to work with corporate clients, advising UTV on its €52m acquisition of FM104. He also structured equity investments by Goodbody clients in property and corporate consortia including the €155m acquisition of Eircom’s mast business.

Neil joined FL Partners in January 2008.
