Neill studied law in Queens University and the University of Amsterdam before joining Ulster Investment Bank in 1990, GE Capital Woodchester in 1992, and subsequently heading up AIB Capital Markets in Northern Ireland in 1996, where he financed a large number of MBO's, MBI's and cross-border transactions.
From 2000 to 2004 Neill was Chief Executive Officer of Island Capital Limited, an in-house corporate finance resource and investment fund for Denis O'Brien, one of Ireland's most successful entrepreneurs. During this time, Neill led the fund-raising strategy for the growth of Digicel - the highly successful Caribbean mobile operation - as well as managing Mr O'Brien's investments in a range of technology companies such as Norkom (now floated), Eontec (sold to Siebel Systems) and ServeCast.
While at Island Capital, Neill also completed a number of significant public and private transactions, including the take-private of PGA European Tour Courses plc and the purchase with management of Sita Environmental's Irish businesses; he additionally structured the equity finance for e-Island's €3.2billion public offer for Eircom, Ireland's fixed line telecoms provider. Neill currently sits on the Board of ISM, the UK-based international sports management company.
Immediately prior to setting up FL Partners, Neill was a Director of IBI Corporate Finance where he completed a number of significant transactions including the reverse takeover of Netilla Networks by AEP, the secondary buyout of CR2, and the sales of Conduit to Infonxx / Investcorp, Eason Electronic to Alphyra, and Portmarnock Links to Capel Developments.
